Often known as the world’s Smallest Big City, or as the world’s Biggest Small Town – Stockholm is famed for far more than the infamous ‘Stockholm Syndrome‘… although it does make a fascinating place to start. The condition takes its name from an armed robbery which occurred during the early seventies, during which several of the hostages held inside a bank for a period of days became ‘sympathetic’ with their captors demands. The syndrome has many fascinating occurrences all over the world and, should you be interested, you can learn more about the history here.

About Stockholm

Known as the Gateway to the Baltic world, Stockholm’s traditional summer Crayfish Party is one of its less weird celebrations. Swedes are also big on bikes, so cycling tours and bike paths are everywhere. This is made even more impressive by the sheer volume of snow the city experiences every year. Those Swedes are nothing if not resilient to the cold!
