Things to do in Stockholm
Once you have decided that you next city destination is the up and coming trendy metropolis of Stockholm, then all you have left to do is decide what you are going to do with yourself whilst you’re there. Well, you’re in luck as I volunteer to be your online tour guide to the central Scandinavian capital.
No matter what your taste is or what you are looking to experience whilst on your travels, I guarantee that you will find something you will love in Stockholm. If I were to list every option we’d be here forever. So I’ll just whizz through a few of the highlights to give you an idea of what this awesome city has to offer you.
Things to do in Stockholm
Why not kick off your visit to the city with a free, yes, free walking tour of the city. These local guides will take you on a 1½ – 2-hour tour that covers around 2km. The guides only get paid if you tip them so they are motivated to make your tour fun and memorable. There is no booking you just pick a time you like and turn up. It’s a great way to see the city and meet other visitors to the city.
While we’re on free activities I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you about the horde of museums that offer free admission in Stockholm. With 16 great attractions to choose from, there is bound to be something to peak your interest. My favourites are the Swedish Museum of Natural History and Cosmonova and the National Sports Museum of Sweden.
Adventure
Once you have your fill of culture why not go on an adventure. Transportation options include, kayaking, sailing, ice skating, snowshoeing, RIB speed boating and even Segways. There must be something here that you’ve never tried before.
Once you’re all tuckered out from exploring the city it’s time to refuel with some great food and drink. If you are after a taste sensation they give Smak a try. They are dedicated to celebrating flavours, so when you dine here you chose three, five or seven flavours and your meal is built with only these, believe me, it is worth a go.
If you are self-catering then check out the Ostermalm Food Hall, built in the 1880’s this hall is packed with the most amazing fresh produce as well as cafes and restaurants serving up classic Swedish delicacies.
When the sun sets in Stockholm the party begins. There are some many great places to head to that you can’t go too far wrong. My personal favourite spots are a pair of bars that were opened by a trio of brothers. Their first place is called Nada and is an amazingly comfortable and mad RnB/Hip-hop venue. They have now moved to a new place called Umganget. On a weeknight, it’s a chill place to hang out with friends, once the weekend rolls around it the craziest place in town.
Your biggest problem now is going to be deciding how much you can fit into your visit. And what isn’t going to make the cut. Good luck!
