Places to visit
If you want to relax and don’t trust that cold, cold Baltic Sea; there are more than a few lakes suitable for your perusal in Sweden. As a rule, you are allowed to swim in the lakes unless otherwise stated, and many of them sport picnic areas, kayaking and other water sports. Faro island is a particularly attractive area that is known for its unique rock formations. There are numerous places from whence you can hire a boat, such as the early 19th century Gota Canal. You can rent a yacht with or without a Skipper – and island hopping tours (which are the best way to visit the Archipelago) are available straight out of Stockholm!
While in the city you can visit any number of museums and art galleries. You can dine out, go dancing or shop till your heart’s content – just like in any other big city. Stroll the Old Town of Gamla Stan and visit the King’s official residence at the Royal Palace – or simply enjoy the ancient frescoes discovered in the city vaults. On the other side of the city, you will find Grona Lund Tivoli – Stockholm’s friendly and fun-filled amusement park that is suitable for all ages. Stockholm really is a city full of wonders.
If you really like sightseeing then get out and see some landmarks while the weather is good. Skansen is an open air museum featured in one of Stockholm’s islands – and has its own Zoo! Abisko national park is also a lovely Summer destination that provides all sorts of family fun days.
